Many people are not fortunate enough to have access to a natural water source, and therefore should consider purchasing a good water filter for the home. After doing some research, here is what I recommend considering when purchasing a water filtration system: 1. Your initial cost, including shipping and installation. 2. The life of the filter. (How long does the filter last?) 3. The warranty on the filter (Will a company prorate it if it goes bad early?) 4. The return policy: (Does the company offer a satisfaction guarantee?) 5. The shipping cost. (Who pays for shipping on any warranty?) 6. Customer service. (Does the company have customer service and how do you reach them?
) 7. Filter effectiveness. (What contaminants does the filter remove?
Can testing be validated?) 8. Performance guarantee. (What happens if it doesn't perform to manufacturer claims?) 9. Replacement filters and parts. (Are replacement parts available and what is the cost?) 10. Backwashing required. (If so, how long is the warranty on any electric head and/or valve?) 11. What is the gallons per minute of flow? (Note: A shower will typically use 2.5 gpm) 12. Well water should always be tested before purchasing a whole house filter. Remember, the cost of health is never more than the cost of sickness. Acquiring quality water is a great investment! When investing in your health, always consider what your ROI (return on investment) will be (including time, money and energy), especially in the long run? This will help you put things into perspective and make it easier for you to make a decision. Simply put, ask yourself these 2 questions: What's my health worth to me? Will purchasing this item help me maintain or regain my health now and in the future?

*Tips for: A Good Night's Sleep
1. Avoid eating just prior to going to bed (at least 2 hrs), especially any stimulants, such as caffeine, nicotine, or other drugs.
2. Keep your sleeping environment quiet and well-ventilated. Keep the windows open when possible. A quiet air filter may also help. Sounds of nature at night may help you to relax and fall asleep. In the warmer months, you may even want to sleep outside under the stars. Just get a mosquito net and you will be all set.
3. Stay hydrated. Going to bed well hydrated will help you sleep better.
4. Keep your sleeping environment dark (minimize lighting).
5. Go to bed by 10pm at the latest. Staying up late is not advised. When you sleep is just as important as how much time you sleep. The body's natural circadian rhythms should be respected. Also, keep the lights down low at night. If it's not daytime, don't make it daytime in your house.
6. Avoid engaging in stimulating activities just prior to bed that may prevent you from relaxing and falling asleep.
7. Keep your sleeping environment free of EMF's (electromagnetic fields). Keep all electrical appliances (TV, radio, clocks, phones, etc) out of your sleeping area to reduce EMF stress.
8. Getting plenty of exercise and sunshine during the day will help you sleep better at night.
9. Go to bed with love in your heart. If you are angry or upset in any way, deal with your feelings and let them go. Stop worrying. If something is on your mind, write it down so you can put your mind and body at rest.
10. Keep a consistent sleep schedule. (Go to bed around the same time every night.)
11. Sleeping on your back slightly inverted (so your feet are higher than your head) can be very rejuvenating.
12. Your sleeping environment should consist of natural, organic bedding materials (cotton, hemp, wool, bamboo) that allow your body to breathe.

A Good Raw Food Recipe

Salad: "Fresh Cob"
Ingredients (organic, non-GMO preferred):
- 1 large head of green leaf lettuce (approx 1 lb)
- 3 cobs of young sweet corn (approx 1 lb.)
- 4 sticks of celery
- 1 red bell pepper
Directions:
Finely chop all ingredients, cut kernls off of the corn, and mix all together in a large bowl. This dish is surprisingly sweet and delicous. Note: Fresh, seasonal, organic young sweet corn is best.

*Q & A with Dr. SAM
Question: T.B. asks: What do you think about using white vinegar as a cleaning product?
Answer: White vinegar can be a great, safe cleaning product option. However, I have heard some health-conscious people voice some concern about how much of the vinegar being sold on the market is made from petroleum. The best way to make sure that white vinegar is not made from petroleum (especially if you are outside the United States) is to look for the words "Made from Grain" on the label. Or, you may want to consider using cider vinegar instead.
One last thought: Doesn't it seem ironic that people are trying to turn grain into fuel for cars and industry, and on the other hand, trying to turn petroleum into food?
Thanks for your question.
