*True Curren$y
With all the craziness going on in the world, the value of our current currency appears to be jeopardy. Many people are not sure what to do, where to invest, and how to ensure their financial futures. Should one buy gold, silver, or other metals? Should one diversify their portfolio? Should one hold currencies other than US dollars? Should one sell their house or refinance now, or wait it out?
Well, I don’t know. However, what I do know is that there is one true currency that will always be of value—loving service. If you have a skill that is valuable to others, you will always have some kind of wealth. If times do get tough here in the US, people will need to help one another along. Paper and metal will quickly lose its value and a barter system may become the new way of paying for things.
Loving service to others may be one of the best assets you can own, as well as one of the best investments you can make at this time. If you don’t possess any valuable skills, learn some. For example, gardening would be a good one—people need to eat. Speaking a foreign language—people need to be able to communicate. Fixing computers—people need to be able to conduct business and stay in touch with others online. Fixing cars—people need transportation. Bodywork (massage)—people need to feel well and keep their stress levels under control. Childcare—children need love and care and parents need to have some free time. Teaching—everybody needs good teachers. Therapy—people need to heal and maintain their health and well-being.
The possibilities are really endless. Having a skill set will always be a form of currency no matter where you live or go. There is no stronger currency (energy) in the world then loving service!

*Holiday Lights
I posted a similar topic to this one last year in a December newsletter and thought it was worth repeating this year. We are approaching the holiday season again. This means the lights will be shining in many places—things blinking and flashing and the candles burning. Are they pretty? Sure. Are they healthy? This depends. For example, I would recommend highly avoiding regular paraffin-based candles. Why? They will wreak havoc on your body. This is just one more reason many people will get sick during the holidays this year. Paraffin candles are a petroleum byproduct (you know that stuff you put in your gas tank), and are very high in certain chemicals that can cause fatigue, skin problems, anxiety, and sickness.
To compound the issue, many paraffin candles have cheap chemicals added to them that irritate the body as well. In fact, I have had many patients and clients over the years who have come to see me that have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which seems to quickly and magically disappear once they ceased burning these little gasoline sticks. For what it’s worth, the American Lung Association has even labeled these things an indoor health hazard.
Here is something to consider: If you see black soot on your walls or the candle holder, guess what’s getting into your body. Yep, same black soot. The tricky part about paraffin candles is that they sometimes smell sweet when burning and they can make your body feel warm and fuzzy. It’s usually not until the next day that you feel the negative effects of ingesting this stuff.
So, can you still have a well lit Christmas? Oh, excuse me, I mean “Holliday”. I do want to be politically correct. Anyway, yes. A healthier alternative to paraffin candles are beeswax candles, soy candles, palm-wax, or vegetable-wax based candles. I would recommend non-scented candles to minimize air pollution as well as pollution to your body.
An even safer and healthier alternative is just getting lights that look like candles. Speaking of lights, avoiding prolonged exposure to fluorescent lights is also highly recommended—not just during the holidays, but always. These puppies are like long cylindrical microwaves that can disturb your nerves and hormones worse than that annoying cell-phone user in line at the bank. Hello, let’s go lady. The rest of us don’t care about your daughter’s birthday party. We just want to make a deposit, okay?
Anyway, keep your holidays happy and healthy.

*Q & A with Dr. SAM
Question: “U.E.” asks: Dr. Sam, what are your thoughts on the safety of consuming young white coconuts? And, how does one open these things?
Answer: It’s ironic you ask these questions. I just had a friend send me some info on young coconuts. First, by safety, there has been concern about whether the young coconuts are treated with harmful chemicals before coming into this country. Well, a report I have does say they often are dipped in 1% -3% sodium meta-bisulfite for 2 to 5 min. So, what is sodium meata-bisulfite? It’s used as a food additive, mainly as a preservative. It can cause allergic reactions in those who are sensitive to sulfites. It’s usually added to coconuts to prevent browning of the husk.
Sometimes, a fungicide is included in the sulfite solution as well. Some fungicides may contain heavy metals, such as lead or other chemicals that can cause some health problems. So, you should do your homework and find out what your food is being treated with.
In regards to opening these things, there appears to be many methods, some safer and cleaner than others.
This video shows one method>>>> video
Thanks for your question.
